In setting up a discussion group, the moderators want to edit some of
the things they have already written.
Any suggestions on how they might edit the group charter, or do any of
things in the numbered points below?

1. how can you edit a message which is incomplete or has mistakes?

2. Where do we put e-mail addresses for people to get help (or redirect
help requests to the moderators)?

3. Can we use BBcode, HTML, or some other markup to emphasis parts of a
message?

Hi David,
Thank you for these good questions.
The group charter is determined by a template, and by the "general
properties" of the group. You can edit the properties in Group Admin ->
Edit the general properties. The "Real Life Group" general property also
appears on the group home page, and the Groups page.
There is no way to edit a message after it has been posted. This is
intentional as it ensures that consistency is maintained between the
messages on the web archive, and messages stored locally by group members.
There is also no way to edit posts during the moderation process. Posts
can be either approved or declined. In the case of declined posts, the
moderator can email the author to say why the posts was declined.
Email addresses are obscured in profiles, and in messages on the web, in
order to protect privacy. They are perfectly available in posts
delivered by email. If you want to make email address even more obvious,
you could add them to the Site Introduction (accessible via the home
page of your site).
There is currently no support in our system for HTML email, which would
allow formatting.
cheers,
Dan
